The revised and facelifted 2018 Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series is now on sale in Australia, with new features and price hikes across the board.
Styling changes are headlined by a new-look grille up front, featured as a plain black-framed design on the entry GX, while higher-spec models get a chrome frame and new winglets that extend into the body of the each headlight.
There’s also new bumpers, new dark-red LED tail lamps and a broader chrome garnish through the centre of the tailgate, along with protective mouldings along the side, below revised door handles.
The 2018 range also benefits from new technologies and revised powertrains, the latter including efficiency improvements to the carry-over petrol and diesel engines.
For the 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel, that means new injectors, revised mapping and a new diesel particulate filter protected against off-roading damage by a special guard.
The diesel now produces 200kW – a 5kW increase – with torque unchanged at 650Nm. Fuel consumption has likewise improved, now down from 10L/100km to 9.5L/100km. CO2 emissions, now rated at 250g/km, bring the diesel engine in line with Euro 5 regulations.
On the petrol front, the LC200’s 4.6-litre V8 engine gets a revised air-injection system that delivers on reduced emissions and Euro 5 compliance, while power and torque remain unchanged at 227kW and 439Nm. Fuel consumption has dropped from 13.6 to 13.4 l/100km, while CO2 emissions have improved to 309g/km.
The 2018 LC200 range again includes diesel-only GX, and petrol or diesel options for the GXL, VX and Sahara models, all equipped with a six-speed automatic.
The GX model gets a grey fabric interior trim, while GXL offers the option of grey or beige fabric, and upgrading to VX or Sahara offers a choice of black or beige leather-accented trim.
The GX model seats five, diesel VX and Sahara will accommodate seven, and all other models boost capacity to eight occupants.
Safety features standard across the range include seven airbags, vehicle stability and active traction control, multi-terrain anti-skid brakes, hill-start assist control, trailer sway control, an emergency brake signal and tilt/telescopic adjustments for the steering column.
Standard kit for the GX includes halogen headlights, 12-volt accessory socket, 17-inch steel wheels and a snorkel, along with vertically-hinged rear doors and a vinyl floor covering.
